ADHD TREATMENT
What is ADHD?
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain regulates attention, organization, impulse control, and activity level. While ADHD often begins in childhood, it can continue into adolescence and adulthood, and many people are not diagnosed until later in life.
ADHD is not a lack of intelligence, motivation, or willpower. It is a recognized medical condition that can affect school, work, relationships, and everyday responsibilities. Symptoms can vary significantly from person to person and may change over time.
There are three recognized presentations of ADHD:
Predominantly Inattentive Presentation – Difficulty staying focused, following through on tasks, organizing activities, remembering details, or managing time.
Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation – Excessive fidgeting, restlessness, difficulty remaining seated, interrupting others, acting without thinking, or feeling constantly "on the go."
Combined Presentation – A combination of both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms.
For many adults, ADHD may look different than the stereotypical image of a hyperactive child. Common challenges include chronic procrastination, difficulty prioritizing tasks, forgetfulness, losing important items, emotional impulsivity, trouble completing projects, or feeling overwhelmed by daily responsibilities.
The good news is that ADHD is highly treatable. With an accurate diagnosis and an individualized treatment plan—which may include education, behavioral strategies, therapy, lifestyle modifications, and medication when appropriate—many people experience significant improvements in focus, productivity, emotional regulation, and overall quality of life.
At Nureli Medical Group, we provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations and evidence-based treatment for adolescents and adults. Our goal is to help you better understand your symptoms, identify any co-occurring conditions, and develop a personalized treatment plan that supports your long-term success.
How We Treat ADHD
At Nureli Medical Group, we believe ADHD treatment should be personalized. No two individuals experience ADHD in exactly the same way, which is why we take the time to understand your symptoms, daily challenges, goals, and overall mental health before developing a treatment plan.
Treatment may include one or more of the following:
Comprehensive Evaluation
Every treatment plan begins with a thorough psychiatric assessment. We review your symptoms, medical and mental health history, current functioning, and any conditions that may contribute to or resemble ADHD, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep disorders, or learning differences.
Medication Management
When clinically appropriate, medication can be an effective part of ADHD treatment. We carefully discuss the potential benefits, risks, and side effects of available treatment options, monitor your response over time, and make adjustments as needed to help you achieve the best possible outcome.
Behavioral & Lifestyle Strategies
Medication is only one component of treatment for many people. We work with patients to develop practical strategies for improving organization, time management, planning, routines, and productivity while reducing the impact ADHD symptoms have on daily life.
Managing Co-Occurring Conditions
Many individuals with ADHD also experience other mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, or trauma-related disorders. Addressing these conditions is often an important part of improving overall functioning and well-being.
Ongoing Follow-Up Care
ADHD symptoms and life circumstances can change over time. Regular follow-up appointments allow us to monitor your progress, evaluate how your treatment plan is working, address any concerns, and make adjustments when necessary to support your long-term success.
Collaborative, Patient-Centered Care
Our goal is to partner with you throughout your treatment journey. We encourage open communication, shared decision-making, and education so you can feel confident in your care and empowered to manage your ADHD effectively.
Whether you're seeking an evaluation for the first time or looking to continue treatment, our team is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that helps you improve focus, reduce daily challenges, and reach your personal, academic, and professional goals.
